Recreational Cheerleading

WHY RECREATIONAL CHEER?

Regular physical activity in young people is directly linked to increased physical health, improved motor skills, is proven to fight health risks such as obesity and increases confidence and mental well being. On top of this, Cheerleading is a team focused sport, and our athletes make friends for life! Cheer is a fascinating sport consisting of elements of tumbling, dance, lifts, and jumps which all together contribute to building strength, flexibility, mobility and stability. Cheerleaders not only see these physical health benefits, but become more confident, focused, become better team players and have so much fun whilst doing it!

Our recreational program is designed to build a solid foundation in cheerleading skills, whilst providing your child with an excellent sense of achievement and progression! Once your child has completed their intro course they will join the appropriate class for their age. Our recreational athletes will work through our Cheer Badge system, covering all aspects of cheerleading from tumbling, dance, jumps, motions and stunts (lifting). We believe that progress should be rewarded and athletes will receive certificates and badges as they progress through the program!

Allstar Cheerleading

Allstar cheerleading

Our Allstar program is for those wanting to commit to higher level cheerleading, training as part of a dedicated team with the aim of competing at various regional and national competitions across the United Kingdom. To be considered for our Allstar program, we would expect a minimum skill level or experience, or alternatively have completed our recreational proficiency program.

Allstar squads compete at various levels from 1-5 depending on the most appropriate skill level for the athletes on the squad. Our focus is on putting out good quality routines, focusing on technique and level appropriate skills in order for our athletes to nurture a good work ethic and sense of achievement.

Whilst we always maintain a fun and friendly atmosphere across the program, the Allstar pathway is for those athletes that want to push themselves, achieve new skills and fulfill their potential! A minimum level of commitment is required when joining our Allstar program, and once offered a place on a team your child is expected to show excellent attendance and commitment.

new athletes

If you are new to the program and your child is interested in joining the Phase 1 Spring Training, please fill out the form linked and we will contact you to arrange an informal induction. Our inductions are one to one, and are a relaxed way for us to meet you and your child, assess their skills and chat about how we can offer the best Allstar experience for your child. After the assessment, we may be able to offer a spot right away on one of our Allstar teams and your child will be invited to come along to a team training session.

Given the current restrictions on sports training and events, we have decided to phase our return to the Allstar program. Our teams will be training to build back their foundation of cheerleading skills, with the aim of putting together routines for a summer showcase on Sunday 27th June  (with the possibility of entering the routines into virtual competitions)

The last week of June 2021 after showcase will consist of pre-season camps. During this time we will put together the new domestic Allstar teams for the full Season 6 starting on 12th July. A full Season 6 information pack will be released mid May.

Each team will train during their team training slot during the week and also have tumble training on Sundays. Your child will be allocated to the correct tumble group given their ability and team bubble. Both sessions are compulsory.

Aces - Worlds Team

PRE SEASON TRAINING CAMPS

In order to prepare for Worlds team try outs, we will be running a series of pre season training camps in the run up to try outs for Aces, our Level 5 Worlds team.

In order to attend these pre season camps, you MUST have at least previous Level 4 experience with stunting or tumbling. If you are unsure if the camps are appropriate for you, please get in touch to discuss.

We will be working Level 5 skills during the sessions, primarily to prepare athletes for the try out process and build back lost skills after lockdown. It is also a good opportunity for you to meet the coaches and get a feel for if joining Aces might be right for you.

You MUST be born in 2008 or earlier to attend these camps.

Cost is £30 and includes all 3 camp dates.

Saturday 22nd May 2pm - 5pm

These camps are NOT try outs. Try outs are scheduled for Saturday 3rd July and callbacks Sunday 4th July. Full information for try outs will be posted very soon. Once the team is selected Aces will be training Biweekly, Saturdays 2pm - 6pm.
